Finally, The Blue Cart Recycling Service is coming to my Lincoln Park neighborhood! This is the city’s neighborhood recycling system to pick up recycling materials including paper, plastic and other items regularly.

I heard about this program from a friend living in the west side of Chicago about a year ago. First, I didn’t know what she was talking about, because I’ve never seen the “Blue Carts” on my street. I went home and researched about the program. It was, in fact, available only in the limited neighborhoods in Chicago.

So, I was longing for the city to expand the program to my neighborhood (so that I don’t have to take recyclables to the drop off center!), and finally the notification letter came by mail yesterday! It came with a magnet showing detailed information which items are recyclable – very helpful! I am really excited and hope other residents follow the new system.
